Nelda

I was just notified that Nelda Jensen passed away this week. She was the previous owner of our home and the reason for our house title "Villa de Nelda." Here is a link to her obituary. Our condolences go out to her entire family. They are in our thoughts and prayers.

You can also read more about Nelda and our new home from a previous blog I wrote back in August, titled "Villa de Nelda." I was lucky enough to get a comment from Nelda's grandson Mike Parker, who shard the sad news.

Dear Erica,
This is Nelda's daughter, Judy. My nephew Mike Parker posted a comment and let you know about the passing of my Mom. I want you to know that last Sunday night we had a get together at my home in Farmington to celebrate Nelda's life. She had 5 daughters, 11 grandchildren, 27 great-children and all of us reminised about everything we loved about her and visiting her home. Watching her make her homemade noodles on the yellow counter. The wonderful roast beef dinners. The summer nights out on the patio sharing stories. Her 'quilting room' across from the upstairs hall bathroom. (We donated 48 of her handquilted baby quilts to Primary Children's Hospital.) Many happy memories there! You have no idea how comforting it is to know that you love her home and that you are making your own memories there. I was so sad to read about 'Ed'. It is always tragic to lose someone we love. Thanks again to you and Joe and Andee & Kelly for remembering my Mother and enjoying her home, which is now quickly becoming 'your' home.

Best Wishes, Judy

Erica,

Thank you for your thoughtful post and link to my grandmother's obituary.

We had a wonderful experience this week at her funeral remembering her and renewing extended family relationships. Some of us even drove by "Villa de Nelda" on our way to the cemetery — it was wonderful to see her home so well taken care of.

All my best to you and Joe!

Hi Erica,
I am Judy's daughter (Nelda's grand-daughter), Kathy. I can't tell you how happy I am that you now live in my grandma's house. It has been fun to make connections to you as you have been so thoughtful of my grandparents and their house. Like my mom commented, our family has years and years of memories in that house. So much love was given and shared there. It is nice to know that you take such great care of the house and that you appreciate it. Thank you for keeping their memory alive in 'Villa de Nelda'.

Can I say how cool it was to read the memories from Nelda's family? SO GREAT! We all knew there was something special about that house, it's so nice to hear her family tell us exactly what they remember! I'm so glad I've been able to help you guys transform the house into your very own, while at the same time preserving it's originality! Love you!
