I'm upset right now. Joe's worse and I don't even want to know his boss' reaction!! We both feel so violated. We live in such a great neighborhood...or so we thought!! There is an apartment complex at the end of our street that is a little questionable and a neighbor that doesn't take care of his yard...but other than that, its so quiet here.
We did have an incident about 2 months ago. There were 4 cars on the street with broken windows...Joe's truck being one of them. After talking to the police and hearing the other cases, it sounded like a group of kids going up the street busting windows on all the cars parked on the street. Kids are kids. Stupid kids, but a windows a window. Not a huge hardship and easy to replace. But breaking the locks and taking everything out of the truck bed - that's a different story!!
Ewww! I'm angry. What jerk did this to us? Sure insurance will cover most of the valuables, but my heart is sore. Our sweet neighborhood, isn't as innocent as I had thought. We are surrounded by the elderly and older couples whose kids have grown. No one I would ever accuse of stealing. Guess I trust people too much. Or it could just be someone wandering through our cozy neighborhood. The perfect spot for a naive victim. They found us!
I don't know what we're going to do now. Joe's truck has been vandalized twice in the 4 months we've been here. Is it just part of life? Were we just extremely lucky in years past to have never experienced something like this? Do I just except the fact that there are slum people surrounding me and just get over it?
Urr...so much for a "great" 2009. Its been a "great" start... :(

So sorry! We can empathize...Trevor's car was broken into just a few weeks ago at work. They broke his window and took a $400 nail gun out of the back seat in the middle of the afternoon! The police said they have seen an increase in these types of crimes due to the suffering economy...people get more desperate I guess. But so annoying!! Hopefully the theives will know someday what a hardship they caused to innocent people. Oh, and our auto insurance only would cover the window. The nail gun would have to go on our homeowners insurance policy which has a high deductible, so we got zip for it. Great. Glad to hear your insurance is working out...but such a pain dealing with all of it!! Do you guys have a garage? Our garage is packed...but we force a way to get our two cars in there. At least at home our cars are protected! Or what about some kind of super bright motion light you can mount on your house?
Sorry to hear about the truck, that just sucks and there's nothing you can do. Looks like it's time to leave the front lights on or get a HUGE spot light to shine on your cars ;)
Here's to some good news I LOVE MY HAIR!! Thanks so much for being such a Great stylist and an even Better Friend!!!
That's why we moved to Farmington. We got so many things stolen including our car when we lived in our old house. We got a bunch of laptops stolen out of our garage a day or two before we moved away, and we could NEVER leave our bikes outside, no matter how crappy they are. Now, we leave our bikes on the side of the house in plain view of everyone, and not one thing has been stolen! A month or two after we moved into our old house, someone shot our neighbor's car because they were angry at him for cutting them off on the freeway. Welcome to my old life.
Sorry to hear about the break in. It sucks so bad when someone violates your sense of security. Think of it this way, they were only after the tools. Your pretty new car was left ok and no one tried to break into the house. I know it's hard to think of it that way. And I'm glad the insurance thing is working out. Love you!
